Law Director |

The Law Director is an elected City official who is responsible for the administration of the Canton Law Department. Joe Martuccio, the current Law Director, has been in office since July, 2000, following twelve (12) years of service as Assistant Law Director.
The Canton Law Department is comprised of two divisions, the Civil Division and the Criminal Division (Prosecutor's Office). Each is responsible for a wide variety of services provided to the public, City departments, City employees, area law enforcement and the Courts. The Law Department takes an active role regionally, participating in the Stark Council of Governments and working closely with the Stark County Prosecutor's office.
The Law Director and his staff provide representation for the Mayor, Auditor, Treasurer, City Council, Administration Officials and Department Heads, City Commissions and Boards. The Law Department provides legal representation in such diverse areas as zoning, civil service, health, income tax, and building and code enforcement. Legal representation is also provided to the Fair Housing Commission, Park Commission, Planning Commission and other commissions and oversight groups.
