Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Q: What is Mayor's Night?
A: Mayor's Night was created by Mayor William J. Healy II to provide an outlet for the residents of the City of Canton to speak one-on-one with him and his staff regarding the important issues of the day.
Q: Who can attend Mayor's Night?
A: Mayor's Night events are for the benefit of the everyone in the City of Canton, and are therefore open to anyone and everyone who wishes to attend. As always with all public meetings, there is no cost to attend.
Q: Why would I want to go to Mayor's Night?
A: There are so many reasons you might want to see the Mayor or a member of his administration that it would be impossible to list them all here. However, issues ranging from the delivery of city services, problems in your neighborhood, projects that you might need help with, or ideas for improving Canton are all good topics for discussion. The Mayor and his staff have no agenda at these meetings except to listen – you control the conversation!
Q: What do I need to do if I want to speak with the Mayor or one of his staff members?
A: That's simple – just show up! The meetings are open to the public, so you don't need to RSVP or let us know that you're coming. Throughout the meeting, City employees will be on hand to schedule you a time period during the meeting in which you will be able to discuss your issue with the appropriate official. That's it!
Q: How long do these meetings typically last?
A: Meetings are usually scheduled for two hours, though they may extend past their scheduled end time if there is an unusually large number of guests waiting to talk with city officials. Most often, however, they will be from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on the scheduled dates.
Q: What if my issue takes longer to discuss than the time I have available?
A: No problem! These face-to-face interactions can sometimes be just the first step taken when addressing a resident's needs - if your issue requires further discussion or we need to do more research about a particular subject, arrangements will be made right then and there to schedule necessary follow-up appointments or phone calls.
