Bureau Information |
Welcome to Canton Police
Department's Internal Affairs. As a division of the Canton Police
Department under the direction of Chief Dean McKimm, we are located
on the 3rd floor of City Hall, overlooking the Cityscape of Downtown
Canton, Ohio. One of the main purposes of this bureau is in
effect, to "police" our employees of the department.
Officers today are working in a very complex society, and often hostile
environment. Police are trained, to handle just about any situation that
may occur, and are expected to resolve each one that does. They
are sworn to do this without reservation, and uphold all ethical
responsibilities of their position. They must always remember
to strive constantly to live up to the highest standards of
conduct and professionalism in policing. And if that standard is
compromised...that's when we are here to help. This
site was developed to aid the citizens, who are looking for information
on Internal Affairs, or how the process of a personnel complaint works; and also for Law
Enforcement personnel, to assist them in advice or counsel concerning police
related matters. Go to General Information
to learn about what we do, who we
are, and how our department operates. Certifications, accomplishments, experience and
qualifications of the personnel of Internal Affairs are available to you as
well.
If you have questions
or concerns, you can call our office at 330-489-3377 to come in to see
us. Or maybe you just want to give us your
comments. Your email is important to us and will be kept
confidential, so please contact us. We want to hear from you.
Learn about
the cases we handle and what kinds of things citizens are really
complaining about. Who's filing charges against City Police? What are the findings of these cases after
they're completed? That and many more interesting statistics can
be found in the I.A. Annual Report.
Find out about the Mayor's
Community Relations Committee, what they do in relationship to the
Internal Affairs Unit, and how you can contact
them. We're always updating news and information about the Police
Department and Internal Affairs, so check back frequently! |
